I was in class the first and last day of the simulation but I was on a field trip the second day in the ARM delegation. No one in my group had done model UN before so I helped everyone with addressing other delegates and how to address everyone when they speak up at the podium and I also helped them on how to properly with resolutions. On the first day I did go up to the podium but I mostly talked behind the scenes with UNHCR delegates and letting other people in our delegations stand or go up to the podium and present our ideas. I felt really prepared for the simulation. I was satisfied with how we ended because in our resolution we had ended with overwatch on the different countries humanitarian aid for refugees alongside the UNHCR. I liked that the countries weren’t real because it kept us from being biased in anyway and also it was easier to be more passionate to fight for what our organizations\/countries wanted. The biggest struggle was staying involved because ARM and the UNHCR are very similar so a lot of delegates only wanted to work with one organization not both and we ended up getting cut out of certain things at first. I would change having more than one organization because even when we sorted everything out with UNHCR we ended up just sitting around because we only needed one spokesperson for the both of us when we would have someone stand to speak and it would have been nice to have been able to do more. This was the first model UN simulation I have done with no help from anyone so I had no one to check anything for me and all the things I thought of I had to be confident in.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
