The US is on a roll right now after abandoning the Kurds who have been an important ally for them in their fight against the Islamic State. This has caused Turkey to penetrate 19 miles into Syria causing thousands of civilians to flee. Turkish Air raids have killed hundreds of Kurds, in addition the Turks have committed war crimes against Kurdish prisoners and a politician. The blood of the Kurds is on America’s hands and while it might be in our personal best interest to pull out of Syria we can certainly use dominance to make Turkey stop its attacks of the Kurds. Many ISIS prisoners have escaped in the resulting chaos which could result in rising terrorism in the middle east.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While we shouldn’t be spending US lives on the conflict in Syria we can’t abandon the Kurds with the excuse they didn’t help us in World War 2. Who gives a crap they are our ally who has helped us fight terrorism and by abandoning them we are losing the trust of all of our allies. We should be helping them with weapons and intelligence as well as threatening crippling sanctions against Turkey if they keep it up. Last year sanctions against Turkey crippled their economy and president Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan would certainly not want a repeat. President Trump already sent a rather aggressive letter to Erdo\u011fan warning him not to be a tough guy and that he would destroy his economy. Trump has to know that if Turkey goes ahead and disregards America that the US will lose their standing as global policeman. If this occurs America will lose influence in countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan. The decision to pull out of Syria doesn’t just affect the Kurds it could signal the end of the US’s reign of being the world’s sole superpower.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
