China, Saudi Arabia, and Russia are looking to be included in the Human Rights Council, and many people are not fond of it. Many rights groups say that these countries should not be included because they are some of the world’s “worst right violators”. Saudi Arabia has been on the council before in 2019 and China could also return to being a member. The Human Rights Watch (HRW) believes both Saudi Arabia and China both used the position in the council to, “prevent scrutiny of their abuses and those by their allies.\u201d The HRC mentioned this about Saudi Arabia as there have been reports of serious violations of these rights such as torture, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances and the Saudi-led coalition that continues to commit war crimes against the civilians of Yemen. Also, last month many nations condemned Saudi Arabi before the council over these violations and commanded they take responsibility for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post newspaper columnist who was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a big matter because if Saudi Arabia, Russia, and China were to be put back on the human rights council, they could very easily use the protection and reputation the council provides to cover up all the harmful things being done in their country. This most especially applies to Saudi Arabia and china, As Saudi Arabia could potentially cover all the torturing, capital punishment, human trafficking, womens rights, rascism, foreigners rights, and religious freedom issues that are happening in it’s country right now. China is not included in my nation, but right now they are deling with a huge crisis. Saudi Arabia joining the HRC, it would act as a representation to others that as long as a country has power, strong allies and a limitless public relations budget, they could torture and execute their own people and children. these conflicts have killed over 100,000 people. And for china, right now they are holding 380 detention centers in Xinjiang where an estimated over 1 million Uighurs are being held. China has referred to these detention camps as “vocational skills training centers”. China is locking up Uighurs with horrible living conditions and unproportional food\/water. It’s almost as if there is a genocide starting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The middle East Concern is a NGO formed in Britain that is international and works in Saudi Arabia. I think this NGO would could be a huge helping hand in getting Saudi Arabia more trusted into the Human Rights Council, as they work with everything human rights. The Middle East Concern monitor’s abuses of human rights, seeks redress for victims of human rights abuse, relieves needs among victims of human rights abuse, researches into human rights issues and educates the public on human rights. If this Organization were to step in and change the way some of the things are going in Saudi Arabia right now their citizens would feel safer and other nations would be accepting of them into the Human Rights Council.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
