The Saudi Arabian government has recently allowed Israeli commercial planes to cross its airspace when en route to the UAE. White House adviser Jared Kushner and Middle East envoys report to have resolved the transportation issue through Saudi Arabia just hours before the first direct flight from Israel to the UAE. These flights from Israel to the UAE are part of a normalization deal between the two nations. As a result of this deal the US has advanced forward with arms deals with the UAE. Advisor Kushner and his team are making a visit to Saudi Arabia in attempt to convince Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to end the three year blockade of Qatar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is an important article because it shows the increasing cooperation between middle eastern countries. And it also shows that Saudi Arabia may be softening up its stance towards the country of Israel, for a country that has been showing consistent support for Palestine perhaps Saudi Arabia is trying to defuse harsh relations. For the Middle East as a whole, this new aviation permission can mean increased trade and possibly even new trading partners. I believe this agreement is a bi product of US both influence and economic interest of the two countries, both countries recognize the benefits of this agreement. In the future Saudi Arabia could become an oil distributer for Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It seems that Israel has the US and their economic\/military power for this new agreement. A country with the amount of power as the US can easily persuade a country in their desired direction. A nation’s power is based on their ability to persuade countries in a certain direction, and the amount of power a country has can generally be judged on their GDP. The amount of influence the US has can be recognized in their meeting with the GCC to end the blockade of Qatar, whether Kushner was successful with this meeting is still unknown, but resolving this blockade would be an example of the balance of power theory. The balance of power theory is the idea that one country can use its power to balance that of another state of group of states. By convincing the GCC to cooperate with Qatar this theory would be fully supported.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
