The Loan will support the Generation Green programme, a government strategy for developing agriculture. The World Bank also announced that “The funding will also support the country’s economic response to the coronavirus pandemic.” The loan will finance entrepreneurship and training programmes for villages’ youth; the agricultural sector contributes about 14 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP). It presents an important source of employment for 75 per cent of the country’s villagers.

This will help the Morocco economy because it will help create jobs for the people living there. The more money in the economy, the more wealthy a country will be. It will also help prevent any food shortages because villagers are being taught how to be agriculturally sufficient. The only downside to this loan is that loans aren’t always paid back. There is always a chance that these programs will fail and the World Bank could lose $250 million dollars. This money is also going to help Morocco with the global pandemic. Hopefully it will be used to support hospitals and to get vaccines to Morocco.

The World Bank is an example of an IGO. An IGOs is an organization composed primarily of sovereign states, or of other intergovernmental organizations. The World Bank supports world economic development and to eliminate poverty. The World Bank loaning money to Morocco is an example of trying to eliminate poverty because jobs will give people money and with money there will be less poverty. It also helps the economy because like I said earlier, with more people having jobs more money will be put in the economy. This could also help Morocco with trade because they will have more food to trade with other countries.

Link to Article: https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20201216-world-bank-approves-250m-loan-to-morocco/ To support local agriculture, as part of a joint operation with the French Development Agency, The World Bank has agreed to grant Morocco $250 million for support.
