A warrant for US President Donald Trump comes into the world from a Baghdad court. The arrest warrant is for killing top Iraqi paramilitary commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. Al-Muhandis who was the deputy commander of the Popular Mobilisation Forces in Iraq was killed in the saem drone strike as Iranian General Qassem Soleimani near the Baghdad airport this time last year. The killing of the top generals occured when they were traveling in their motorcades. President Trump later spoke and said he got “two for the price of one”. The Baghdad court issued a warrant for Trump’s arrest which would provide Trump with the death penalty. Investigations are still going on to uncover others who were involved with the killing. Last Sunday, pro-Iranians boasted their voices for “against Washington”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The killing of Soleimani and Al-Muhandis were in my opinion a smart decision on Trump’s part. Both leaders were causing chaos in the area and havoc for the United States. Soleimani operations are responsible for more than 600 American deaths. Soleimani’s death in my opinion was bigger than Osama Bin Ladens. His influence in the middle east was unique and his way to influence his country was unmatched to any other leader. While killing Soleimani may have been good in the short run, the United States has something coming in revenge. Escalation of Iran and the US drastically increased following the killing such as attacks on the US embassy in Baghdad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a realist perspective we can see this as military power and security dilemma. The United States assassinated top military men in Iraq and Iran for their own protection to ensure that the havoc in the region would diminish. As the United States world power progresses, at what cost will they do to ensure it stays on their side?
