Villagers in Bounti said a lone helicopter opened fire on Sunday on a crowd gathered for a wedding. A French military spokesman denied the connection of the raid and the wedding party. The intel collected from the site does not correspond to a wedding. The operation to kill the people was said to after an intelligence mission of several days showed a suspicious gathering of people. The French military stated it was a &#8220;terrorist armed group based on individuals&#8217; attitudes, their equipment, and other intelligence information.&#8221; Bounti lies 373 miles from the capital of Mali, Bamako. Armed groups have a heavy presence in the capital. The region of Bounti has been a deadly military offensive area since 2012 forcing hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While this might be a he said\/she said conflict, the French government is well equipment and with apart of the United Nations serving to protect the world, their morals are better than killing unarmed civilians. With so many different armed groups in the area, it is questioning about what that group would have done. With no end in site for these militia groups, at what point will France take even steeper measures to ensure safety in the region. In my opinion I believe France took the right precautions and executed a good plan of attack to dwindle down on the amount of armed groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From a realist perspective, killing one armed group may work for the short time, but in the long run more groups will form and want revenge. If France wants to establish peace in the region they will need to install some sort of security force in the country to make sure these armed groups diminish.
