Netanyahu is currently being prosecuted for a corruption charge. Netanyahu has the most support from parliament at 51 seats but is still shy of the 61 seat majority. both sides of the political parties agree that they should not have a 5 consecutive election. The acting president had a tough decision to make because he had to choose if the longest acting prime minister is still worth of presidency even if he is being accused of corruption. the reason he choice himis that no one party has the majority but Netanyahu’s party has 51 seats so he has the best chance of establishing a coalition. of course Netanyahu is denying all charges. Netanyahu is trying to get the leader of the right wing new horizon party to support him but they have a rocky relationship. so far he has not made a commit if he will support him. Netanyahu has 28 days to get together a collection. but if he does not have a coalition by then, Rivlin can assign someone else to try and put together a government.

This is a big decision for the government of Israel because they have to make two big decisions the first is if they want to keep a president that is being tried for corruption. even though he is the longest lasting prime minister. the other thing is if they want to show their population that their government can effectively communicate and form a government even if the president does not have the majority vote from parlement. If Netanyahu does get the government going will he have the support of the people in what he does considering they might call into question his credibility. this can change a lot of things going on in the middle east and with trade and relation for the united states.

This relates to class in a geopolitical way because whoever comes into office will have different views on how to deal with local and foreign problems.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/4/6/israels-president-to-announce-candidate-to-form-new-government The Israeli president choice Netanyahu to be the next president and decide the government for Israel’s future.
