An Ulmazi Cop is causing protests because of his gender based violence. Thabiso Eugene Mchunu, allegedly forced his girlfriend into his car, arrested her, and took her to his home where he did some horrible things that I can’t even write about. Mchunu is currently being held in prison without bond because of his actions. In fact, one of his other girlfriends ironically testified him against him in court. Although there was no conclusion to the case, it does not look up for Mchunu as he waits for a psychological report on his victims mental health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In any case, there is no room in this world for sexism of any kind. Even if it it meant as a “joke” discrimination and violence directed at one gender for any reason should not be allowed. On top of this, it saddens me that there is still frequent cases of police violence thoughout the world after what we have seen last summer in the U.S. I just wish that there was a way to educate as many people as possible, so that we can prevent situations like this in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In class, we discuss national interest often. It is clear that in South Africa, there are other priorities to the country than running a strong and disciplined police force. It may be that they have greater problems to attend to or that they just aren’t interested in events like this. Nevertheless, it is no exception. It is clear that the national interest of South Africa is not in the right area as they have a problem with their police abusing their power. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
