Yousef Al Otaiba, an Emirati ambassador, stated that the United Arab Emirates is looking to ensure that the India-Pakistan conflict does not escalate further. The conflict stems from territorial claims of Kashmir that have been going on for decades. Recently, the UAE wrote a ceasefire for both states in hopes to have peace in the region and keep Kashmir citizens calm.The Emirati government official called on the United States to keep military near the region, in order to stabilize the region. Otaiba also suggested that Pakistan should replace the United States\u2019 peacekeeping role in Afghanistan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is great to see the UAE stepping up to further the advancement of the region. The India-Pakistan conflict has been a major issue in the area, as it harms not only Kashmir, but their neighbors as well. Surrounding states have had to choose sides or neutrally interact with both of them without causing damage. With China continuing their push into Kashmir, it is necessary for India and Pakistan come to terms of Kashmir now. If India and Pakistan break the terms of the ceasefire, it will be difficult for both of them to return to a place where they can discuss a peace treaty. It will also give China and others to invade Kashmir for their natural resources and expansive land power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UAE has a history of providing military assistance and following through with peacekeeping operations, including Bosnia-Kosovo and the Gulf War. Due to this, it can be said that their foreign relations are based on the liberal perspective. Throughout time, people have recognized the UAE\u2019s effort to bring the international community together. Furthermore, UAE is known to cooperate and negotiate on legislations in international governmental organizations, like the United Nation and the Arab League.
