The UAE has been holding and prisoning human rights activists and holding on to them. The EU calls this a violation of human rights and that it needs to stop. The EU parliament sent a strongly worded message to the UAE saying that it has to stop immediately and asked for the release of all activists including the names Ahmad Mansoor, Mohammed al-Roken, and Nassar bin Ghaith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is important for many reasons. The first reason is that it will stop the UAE from arresting people on questionable pretences like they did for Mansoor saying that he was arrested because he was \u201cinsulting the status and prestige of the United Arab Emirates\u201d. With these charges being considered not worthy enough then it can lead to the release of many others who have been imprisoned due to protesting in the UAE. The next reason this is a big deal is because if the UAE doesn&#8217;t comply with the EU it can result in the EU using more force to make them release the prisoners.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are many direct ties to international relations in this topic of discussion. This relates to our class because it is an IGO or an Intergovernmental organization pressuring a sovereign state to do something that it wants to be done. The United Arab Emirates is not a member of the European Union but has worked to have a good relationship with the EU.
