https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2022\/3\/8\/israeli-troops-demolish-palestinian-home-in-west-bank<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Palestinians Mohammed Jaradat and Jit Jaradat had their West Bank homes demolished by Israeli troops early on Tuesday March 8, 2022. This comes as the two men were accused by Israeli Troops of carrying out a shooting of a car that killed one Jewish student and wounded two others. While the demolition of the homes took place, Israeli military personnel claimed that armed Palestinis fired at the troops causing the troops to have to fire back. They also state that objects such as rocks, firebombs and grenades were also thrown at them during the process. Wafa, a Palestinian news agency, claims that the Israelis injured 8 people with the live rounds and rubber coated bullets. Israel said that the demolition of the houses comes as a way to try and \u201cdeter future attacks.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n I think that what is going on right now is sad. With the history between Palestine and Israel it does not really come as a surprise to me that extreme measures are being taken in this case. In most countries you do not see the government send military personnel to demolish the house of someone who is suspected of a shooting. That is why I feel the steps that Israel took to \u201cdeter future attacks\u201d has a lot to do with the bitterness between the two countries and less to do with the crime that was committed. The steps they took affected more than just the two people involved in the crime committed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This relates back to class due to levels of analysis. On a state level, after the past fights with the West Bank being an area that is fought over between the two countries, Israel may have felt that in order to try and deter any further attacks between Palestinians and Israelis that they had to take extreme measures to make sure that their message gets across and to scare people straight.
