Iraq has offered to mediate talks between Russia and Ukraine to end the war, which Ukraine has rejected. Ukraine demands russia’s pull all troops out of any Ukrainian territory and refuses to acknowledge any annexed land by the russians. While Russia on the other hand wants Ukraine to recognize Russia’s sovereignty over Ukraine and the annexed territories but again Ukraine has reiterated that Russia must pull all troops out for any talks to begin. As the previous mediators between Saudi Arabia and Iran, Iraq has stated a desire for peace to be brokered between Russia and ukraine. as iraq gets most of its grain from ukraine the shortage has led to food prices rising by a lot and despite iraq being close to iran who gives\/gave russia does for the war iraq has denied giving russia any weaponry during the war though they’ve admitted to supply drones before the war effort. talks of strengthening relationships between Iraq and Ukraine continue through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s very little chance any peace is brokered currently between Ukraine and russia. Russia has invested so much in this war and lost a lot of its international power and influence due to this war that it would be a complete failure if they were to pull out and relinquish land especially with Putin not being a net positive or Russia in a while he risks being overthrown. I’d expect for Iraq to continue to try to end the war or at least get the 2 countries to make concessions though I doubt they actually succeed and I also think Iraq will continue to increase relations with Ukraine as they really need Ukrainian grain. I don’t think it will affect their relationship with Iran much as Iraq has very little to gain from Russia right now and I expect other countries to be realistic and not risk relationships with Russia in its current form. I expect Iran to find ways to circumvent their grain shortages or at least help them<\/p>\n\n\n\n

what this relates back to his relationships and war. Obviously relationship wise it relates to the complexity with Iraq being allies with Iran who is allies with Russia while at the same time Iraq is friendly with Ukraine and becoming friendlier to the US. it also connects to the fact that war just isn’t good for more than just the countries directly involved. War affects trading and economics. prices rise, the value of money goes down and that affects other countries even if they are lined with a side or the war. War just isn’t good for business, the saying goes and this is a realistic statement to see with the multitudes of countries suffering rain and fertilizer shortages due to the war in ukraine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
