And despite the convoy’s ability to persevere and eventually make it to Gaza. Shortly following that the ministry put out another statement that claimed that the convoys had been attacked and stripped by two settlers. Israel claimed that those that blocked the convoy (4 men) were arrested by the police. Despite this assertion that the men responsible for the incident had been arrested. Jordan left with a sour taste in their mouth and claimed they believed that the issues were to blame completely on Israel and the international community for the lack of support for humanitarian aid. However, when looking at the situation the United States has been pushing for Israel to start allowing aid into the Gaza strip. and despite the issues with the last convoys Jordan continues to send aid and as of today did not have any issue with their most recent convoy which consisted of upwards of 80 trucks. I think that this article does a good job helping to explain the significance of aid during wartime and the effect on the relation of countries when that aid is not allowed. I think a lot of the time when people are thinking about allies and how they support them. People think in terms of guns, ammunition, and money. However in situations like this where so many crimes against humanity are occuring there are bound to be many countries that step up and try to help. And this help can create divides between allies and even greater divides between enemies. This relates back to class when we evaluate again the extensive cost of war. Jordan, who is more likely than not supporting Palestine, has to work with Israel to help Paalistine and these relationships become more and more shaky during war. It is also interesting that as soon as the convoys got attacked Jordan made a statement to the international community which goes to support the idea that the international community despite the overarching weaknesses have a lot of power and intimidation. Because immediately following this Israel started to deal with the people and despite not knowing the validity of the claim one could hope they are honest. Israel also continued to allow aid for the million who are being displaced by the endless attacks.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/jordan-says-israeli-settlers-attacked-jordanian-aid-convoys-way-gaza-2024-05-01 According to Jordan, Israel has attacked two convoys that were full of humanitarian aid that were on their way to help the Palestinians.
