Emergency services reported 9 minor injuries people suffered while seeking shelter. Houthi members claimed that the missile evaded 20 other missiles to intercept it. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu responded by saying the Huthis should know the Israelis charge a heavy price for any attempts at harm. Hamas, the terrorist organization that Israel has been at war with for the past nine months, welcomed the attack. They considered it a natural response to aggression against their people, the Palestinians. The Houthis have been defenders of Gaza for a while now, bombing Israeli-linked ships since November.

This story is just another thread woven into the tapestry of the conflict going on in Israel. Yemen is an Islamic country whose legitimate government is run by the Houthis who we recognize as a terrorist organization. They are defenders of the Palestinians of Gaza because of their shared religion. Hamas is in support of this attack because it is making the Israelis feel as if they are getting attacked on all sides and like there’s no way out and helps Hamas win the war. This bombing is going to lead Israel to respond quickly and majorly, bringing more death and despair to the already hurting region. The Middle East, as divided as it already is, is going to be throwing bombs and destroying each other. Yemen’s Houthis are simply elevating the horrible situation and bringing conflict to their country as well. Israel will always be a place of conflict because of Jerusalem, which three religions consider to be the cradle of their religion.

Israel and Yemen are both state actors. Hamas and the Houthis are non-state actors, aka terrorist organizations but are the official governments of Yemen and Gaza. Israel has major challenges that are so big they involve the whole world, making them global challenges. Israel is a state and Palestine is a nation. Palestine can also be identified as a stateless nation and a non-recognized state. Part of the reason Palestine is not recognized as a state is because the UN, the biggest inter-governmental organization in the world, does not recognize them.

Link to article: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/9/15/missile-fired-from-yemen-lands-in-israel-setting-off-sirens-military-says The article describes a missile from Yemen’s Houthis hitting Israel with no reported casualties.
