Analysis<\/strong> – The Israeli Defense Minister claimed that Israel is entering a new phase of war against both Hamas and Hezbollah. Following his statement, over 3,000 communication and electronic devices exploded throughout Lebanon, wounding over 450 people and killing at least 20. The day prior, exploding pagers killed 12 people in Lebanon and Syria, including two children, and injured around 2,800 others. The attacks were targeted at members of Hezbollah, a terrorist organization within Lebanon, however injured and killed many lebanese citizens as well. It is believed that the attacks against Hezbollah are the product of an Israeli government agency, Massad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analysis<\/strong> – These recent attacks, carried out by Israel against Lebanon will have many lasting effects. I believe that Lebanon will become a major player in the Hamas\/Israeli war and that both Lebanon and Hezbollah will side with Hamas. The pressure from Lebanon will force countries like the US to become more involved as well as we are allied with Israel. If Lebanon or Hezbollah declared war or attacks, Israel will be completely surrounded by enemy countries in the Middle East, which can become a turning point in this war. I believe that these attacks on Hezbollah may also deter both Lebanon and Hezbollah from beginning conflict with Israel, as it shows the power that the Israeli military and government have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connection<\/strong> – Hezbollah is a Shia terrorist organization based in Lebanon. Hezbollah currently supports and recognizes Palestine and their war efforts. Hezbollah is made up of lebanese citizens and is backed by the Iran government. I believe that we should continue our support of Israel however be careful to not begin conflicts with enemy groups and states such as Iran. I believe that it is important for the US to keep working with the leaders on a ceasefire or if that is not possible, I think that a two-state solution may have to be worked out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
