According to RT, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow was concerned about the surge of violence in Syria and called for swift action.\u00a0\u201cMany nations and international organizations, including the UN, share our concern,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Peskov stated. As many as 1,300 people have been killed in the cities of Latakia and Tartus in three days, including more than 800 civilians, according to news reports. Russia and the US are maintaining contact over the\u00a0worsening situation in Syria, Moscow\u2019s ambassador to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, has said. Hundreds of civilians have reportedly been killed in renewed fighting\u00a0in the war-torn country over the past several days.\u00a0Speaking to reporters on Monday, Nebenzia revealed that all the members of the UN Security Council share a similar stance on the deteriorating situation in the Middle Eastern country, noting that Russia and the United States are in contact on the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is important because it shows how the United States and Russia are beginning to reopen diplomatic relations in order to solve various problems of violence in the Middle East. Between this and the new ties with Russia in order to resolve the Ukraine conflict, the Trump Administration has shown that it wishes to create strong relations with Russia and to bring them back to the table as a major world power in order to solve the problems that currently face the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This relates to what we have learned in class because it shows how the United States and Russia are valuing diplomatic ties in order to monitor and resolve security threat over the sanctions and lack of communication from the previous administration. This goes back to the realist strategy of focusing on the more pressing security issues rather than holding on to the values of intergovernmental organizations and previous allies and military alliances.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
