Anees Alasbahi, a spokesman for the Houthi health minister, said three people were confirmed killed in the US attack on Tuesday night but that the death toll was preliminary. \u201cThe American attack, which targeted the water management building in the district of al-Mansouriyah in the governorate of Hodeidah with several strikes on Tuesday resulted in three deaths and two injuries, mostly employees,\u201d Alasbahi said. \u201cThe United States and its partners remain committed to regional security in the CENTCOM (Central Command area of responsibility) and are prepared to respond to any state or non-state actor seeking to broaden or escalate conflict in the region,\u201d the Pentagon said. Trump threatened Iran on Sunday that \u201cthere will be bombing\u201d if Iran does not reach a deal with Washington, on his terms, on Iran\u2019s nuclear program. The aerospace commander of Iran\u2019s Revolutionary Guard, Amirali Hajizadeh, reminded Washington that it had bases in the Middle East, saying, \u201cThey are in a glass house and should not throw stones\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is important because it shows how the United States is deepening its direct involvement in Middle Eastern affairs. The United States is attempting to remove the threat of Houthi rebels attacking trading ships that pass through the Gulf of Aden and in doing so have brought the attention of Iran as the Houthis are backed by Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is important to what we learned in class because it shows how the United States is protecting its national interests through involvement in various conflicts around the world, but mainly in the Middle East. Iran sees these military advancements as a threat to both their and other Middle Eastern state’s national sovereignty and are responding accordingly. Iran does not want to see any more foreign involvement in their affairs and these events continue to degrade the two country’s diplomatic relations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
