At this point in the conflict they have begun to search for an ending in the form of a peace deal. This comes with Iran’s closing of the Strait of Hormuz, an important international energy trade route. The initial peace offering came from Tehran which Trump noted as significant but not enough and was thus denied. The white house then sent a peace offering which has been denied. Now, Pakistan as a mediator has created a peace proposal and sent it to the leaders of respective countries in hopes of opening up the strait.

This peace deal is very important because this conflict has now started to affect more people internationally than it did in its beginning when its impact was primarily in Iran with the exception of some places in the region that have been hit with strikes as part of the conflict. However since the closing of the Strait of Hormuz this has moved to the world wide scale and now this peace deal has become very important due to the amount of energy Iran contributes to the international energy sector as well as the amount of energy and fuel that gets transported through the strait daily.

Now when considering the next actions for the different actors we must consider why the main stakeholders want peace, first the United States wants peace because negotiating a deal that involves Iran opening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for peace is much faster than essentially bombing Iran into submission then going in and forcing them to open then strait. For Iran, the main goal would be to prevent that from happening however they also want to avoid most peace deals as they will involve signing an agreement regarding the creation of nuclear weaponry.

This article connects to many of the different class concepts, topics, and themes including of course peace and conflict, but also interdependence. First, this conflict is ongoing and based on historical instability in the region as well as poor relations and reputation for the United States in the middle eastern region. Searching for peace would have in this case benefits as the conflict is now impacting the ability of some countries to get energy which can be seen by the $55 dollars it cost me to fill up my gas tank yesterday.

https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/iran-news/article-892183 This article discusses another aspect of the conflict between Iran and the joint military forces of the United States and Israel.
