I do not know much about central and southern Asia yet but do have some prior knowledge on the topic of women rights. I know that that is a topic not of then discussed in those arias of the world. That women in India often go to classes on how to properly hit men with big sticks in the threat of rape. And rape along with sexual assault is extremely common in central and southern Asia. Seeing these articles while sad that these things happen so often it is a step in the right direction that the articles are even there.
The fact that this video has gotten so much attention could be another step towards an end to the female fear that constantly sits at the backs of our minds. Equality of women in these countries is obviously far from there. We don’t even fully have it in the US. But 81 cents to the dollar is a walk in the park compared to what these women go through. Even the fear walking alone at night doesn’t compare. Hopefully future incidents will continue to gain more and more support for a fight for safety and security of women.
