Shouting out about Sexual Harassment

In contrast to what I learned about India’s sexual harassment last week, it has moved to a more positive and productive light. Last week other groups had referenced the brutality towards women and girls resulting from standing up against sexual harassment and abuse. I found it unfathomable that the girls were beaten by the accused boys and their families! Now, victims are speaking out and joining the #metoo movement, I find this brave and impressive. I also am impressed with the Indian government in the way of their stance and action on the topic. I have this perspective I guess from the assumption thrown around, that India does not care for or value their women’s opinions or rights. Once again, I am very impressed with the courage of the many young women that spoke up and are speaking out, some of which are forcing government and ministry employees to resign and lose their reputation. I think this encourages worldwide empowerment of women and spreads the courage needed to speak out about the crime. I think this because yes, the United States started it, but now even more so it is India, a state of varied nations, is joining and standing even when they have limited rights. We still have our voice. I am happy to see that once again to mention the government, they are still making time for this important issue, even when there are other large issues and excitements. Some of these include the incredibly large and fast approaching, devastating pollution problem, government relating cartel and probe, improved smartphone technology, providing many new jobs to the unemployed of India, and the possible space race with India. Many of these are huge for India, either devastating and traumatic or exciting and progressive. This weeks articles provided me a more positive spin on India, when normally I think of it relatively negative.
