New Delhi stated that they were going to take bold moves on Afghanistan to establish stronger relations with them and their Taliban-rules state. This followed a phone call between India’s External Affairs Minister and Afghans acting Foreign Minister. ¨As part of that process, South Block will consider the possibility of extending humanitarian assistance to Afghan refugees who have been forcefully repatriated by Pakistan.¨
India stepping up their involvement in Afghanistan is going to strengthen and deepen the two countries relationship. This region is in need of humanitarian help and stability, so hopefully India can resolve these problems soon. Of course, India would have to benefit in some way from this, so this is helping them counter Pakistan, ensure investments are protected, and promote a stable region for successful trade and security. They are able to have Afghanistan under their wing and gain control over more parts of that region.
We can that India is using their foreign policy and are pursuing their interests to gain power and security, from a realists perspective. India is a growing power, and it seems like they want to shift the tide of the polarity in the world, and become one of the most powerful countries. There are things getting in their way, including Pakistan and those conflicts, the US, and even China. This is going to help them economically, and could lead the way to them being a bigger threat to world power.
