The United States is expanding its military presence in the Middle East as nuclear negotiations with Iran continue in Geneva, signaling both pressure and preparation for possible strikes if diplomacy fails. The Pentagon has deployed the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group to the region and is sending the USS Gerald R. Ford, alongside repositioning fighter jets, refueling tankers, air defense systems, and hundreds of cargo flights transporting equipment to Jordan, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. Satellite imagery shows F-15 jets stationed in Jordan, underscoring expanded strike capabilities.
The buildup coincides with indirect talks mediated by Oman, where Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said both sides agreed on guiding principles and will exchange draft proposals. President Trump has warned that failure to reach a deal could trigger military action and has demanded a complete halt to Iranian uranium enrichment. Tehran, meanwhile, conducted naval drills near the Strait of Hormuz and signaled defiance.
U.S. officials acknowledge uncertainty about who would lead Iran if the regime collapsed, with concerns that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps could consolidate power. Regional allies largely oppose military action, urging Washington to give diplomacy more time despite rising tensions.
This article highlights that the US is prepared for anything bad that might come out of the talks with iran. The US prepared to step in, if tensions escalate or heighten period Donald Trump has also been threatening military action against Iran for weeks as he has warned a radiant leaders that he is prepared to order an attack if the government just not stop killing protesters period this article shows that although, Iran and the UA are currently discounting possible negations. The conflict and tensions are not lighting between this counties, and possible conflict could arise.
Iran does not feel threatened by this military present and sees it as unnecessary and unhelpful. The US, I think , is trying to protect itself and its security through disgusting negotiations with Iran. I also believe that increasing our military presence will worsen relations with Iran and cause a negative reaction to the negotiations if they continue. The increased military presence is supposed to put pressure on Iran during these negotiations in drafting up a possible deal and show them ,the US is more powerful and is in control during these discussions.
This is an issue of security and whether or not the United States have the authority to increase military and Naval build up by Iran and whether or not it is invading their territory or sovereignty ,as well as if it is deemed preemptive not preventative.
