As the minister said, “Our diversity and ability to blend ancient and modern systems will again take us to the top.” India has decided to take advantage of their diversity to further propel their education and opportunities. The National Research Fund and the National Technological Forum stated that they aim to preserve India’s diversity in terms of regional language by providing primary education that will be taught in the mother tongue of said regional language. They also want things like the environment for research and development to be more inclusive. Pokhriyal wished that with the new policies for education, Indian students will be able to grow and excel in all spheres of life and transform the country into a job-seeking country into a job provider one. The minister had also stressed that by focusing and linking the talent of Indian students to the country, it will bring forth economic development in the country.

In modern society, many of the global leaders in education, like Canada, are third world countries. Since India is both a third world country and a developing country, their education levels are lower than most first world countries. However India has been slowing growing and trying to get on the first world country level. By further developing their education and allowing education to be more excessable to people in both rural and urban areas, that will allow the country to grow in both their economy and jobs. By also providing more education to people, it will lower their high birth rate because people will become more focused on their jobs and decide they want less children. If you observe other countries like the United States, they have education provided in almost every single part of the world and their birth rate is steadily going down.

In class, we had discussed the collective goods problem and how things that can look good on paper can actually not be beneficial in other aspects. If education causes the birth rate to decline, that could cause the economy to also decline because of a decreasing population. Yes India is trying to control their birth rate because it is so high, but if you look at the more depth future, it could cause a permanent decline and cause them to end up like Russia, which has declining birth rate and a declining economy. It really all depends on the people of India to steer their country into either the right direction or the wrong direction.

Link: https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/national-education-policy-to-transform-india-into-knowledge-superpower-pokhriyal/articleshow/79568250.cms The union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal stated that the National Education Policy-2020 (NEP) will transform India into a knowledge superpower and global leader in education.
