If the U.S. decided to prolong their stay, the Taliban has promised to attack, and any retaliation could spark a war. A war could diminish our peace, especially since we are still in the midst of a pandemic, COVID-19 on the battlefield could be weaponized to weaken either side. We should work to ensure peace with the Middle Eastern countries without the need of our troops.

However, removal of the troops from Afghanistan could destabilize the region and throw the area into another war further causing harm to the people of the region and increasing the terrorist threat at both home and abroad. Increased violence in the region could also impact the production of oil driving up the price of gas and products globally. Mass inflation would push a global recession to an economy already damaged by Covid. Al Qaeda is not a force to be handled lightly. If al Qaeda regains strength and begins it’s reign of terror again, the world will need to join forces to not only battle Covid, but also terrorism.

Link to article: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-afhganistan/u-s-should-delay-complete-troop-pullout-in-afghanistan-report-to-congress-idUSKBN2A32VU An independent bipartisan group lead by retired Marine General Joseph Dunford and former Senator Kelly Ayotte reported to Congress yesterday that the United States should extend the upcoming May 1, 2021 planned removal of all troops from Afghanistan as agreed upon in a February 2020 U.S. Taliban agreement. The group also stated that the U.S. should… Read more »

[1

post-4427","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-analysis-post
["GET
