The United States and the EU have called on China to condemn Putins war crimes and the U.S. has threatened pessing sanctions for providing Russia with material support. Many asian countries around China have condemned the violence put forth by Putins army. For China, the speed and severity with which the U.S. and its allies sanctioned Russia is a warning sign that could guide future economic and foreign policy.

This article is important because the world economy and our daily lives revolve around Asian trade ties. If companies start staying away from Chinese products due to their stance on the conflict, it would destroy the existing supply chains and could crumble the economy. “At a high level, you would think China would benefit from [the U.S.] having a big distraction in Europe, but actually [this] only accentuates those policy debates over critical exposure and vulnerabilities to Chinese supply chains.” Reva Goujon, senior manager for the China corporate advisory team at Rhodium Group, takes a different view on this subject. “You would think China would benefit from the U.S.having a big distraction in Europe, but actually this only accentuates those policy debates over critical exposure and vulnerabilities to Chinese supply chains.”

This relates to International Relations class because this much damage to an economy comes only from a stated stance on a conflict that didnt directly involve them. In a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin last month, China and Russia described “international relations entering a new era” and “no limits” to their countries’ cooperation.
