Additionally, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan from Bangladesh states “Border police officers from neighboring Myanmar’s Rakhine state had “entered our territory for self-protection” ahead of advancing AA fighters.”A spokesman of the Border Guard Bangladesh, the country’s frontier forces, said on Monday that “at least 95 border officers of Myanmar have crossed the border and taken shelter in Bangladeshi border posts”.

In my opinion, the war happening in Myanmar has significant implications for surrounding nations, including Bangladesh. The conflict can lead to an influx of refugees, as seen with the border police officers mentioned in the article, strained resources, and increased security concerns, regarding who is coming into their country. Additionally, Neighboring countries will be affected by the spillover of violence and political instability. They also may face pressure to provide peacekeeping and humanitarian aid. In all, the situation is very complex and requires ample diplomacy and cooperation between countries to address the consequences and work towards stability.

In class, when discussing national security and threats we mentioned how external conflicts can affect a country’s internal affairs, and the insurgency going on in Myanmar is a perfect example, as the conflict has flooded over into neighboring countries. Additionally, the whole situation with Myanmar and Bangladesh has implications for international relations. For example: the Rohingya refugee crisis. The crisis involves the Rohingyas fleeing from Myanmar to seek refuge in Bangladesh. This has drawn attention from the international community and It has sparked discussion about human rights the international community must address. Human rights are a big part of international relations, as it applies to international law, which is a significant part of our class.

https://www.scmp.com/news/asia/southeast-asia/article/3250962/myanmar-border-guards-flee-bangladesh-amid-clashes-rebel-arakan-army-fighters At least two people were killed in Bangladesh on Monday after mortar shells fired from Myanmar during clashes there landed in a village across the border, police said.Parts of Myanmar near the 270-kilometer border with Bangladesh have seen frequent clashes since November when rebel Arakan Army fighters ended a ceasefire that had largely held since a 2021 coup.
