Admiral Shahram Irani of iran’s navy stated that saudi arabia has asked Tehran to organize these military drills in the red sea. This is a historic change for the two former rivals. The move shows how iran is pushing for a regional stability. With them also doing military drills with russia and Oman. Saudi Arabia has not yet confirmed that they join these military drills with iran in the red sea. Has a result of previous tensions these two countries have. If they do agree and cenced to doing these drills it could mean new alliances in this region and changing the influence the United States has in the middle east.

Iran potentially joining forces with Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Russia seems less has an act for peace but more has a group up to make it so israel cant hit them back after there recent attack. WIth these big powers joining up it might also set a fear into the smaller terrorist like countries to not make anymore moves because they will suffer a backlash. Making it easier for peace to be made in the middle east. I think that this is also a good movement in the way that these nations are approaching there tension between each other. Previously they had a rough relationship from old conflicts and had a different stance on beliefs that seemed like it wouldn’t end but now there discussing how to coexist.

The participation of Iran and Saudi Arabia in joint exercises can be seen as part of a broader trend toward multipolarity in the Middle East. As these countries engage more with each other and possibly with other regional powers (like Oman and Russia). The traditional balance of power is evolving into something where every country is equal in the middle east making it hard for conflict to break out as easily as they do now. With the fear that a country with equal power could retaliate there beliefs. Potentially causing widespread civilian casualties and Destruction of infrastructure which none of these countries want.

link to article:https://nypost.com/2024/10/23/world-news/iran-says-saudi-arabia-will-join-historic-military-drills-in-the-red-sea/ The announcement of Iran and saudi Arabia having joint military drills signals a huge development in there diplomatic relationship.
