Escalating tensions Between the United States and the Iran backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have been confirmed After the US launched air strikes into Yemen. It has been stated by the Houthi run Health Ministry that the overnight US air strikes killed at least 53 people Including five women as well as two children. The attack also wounded almost 100 people within the capital of Sanaa and the province of Sada. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has made it very clear That the US will not lay off until the Rebels have no more capability to control which ships go through the corridor and which do not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday. On Saturday, President Donald Trump stated that the US will continue to use overwhelming lethal force until the Houthis seize their attacks. He also warned that Tehran would be held fully accountable for any of their actions.  Recently, the Houthis had constantly targeted international shipping in the Red Sea, where they have sunk 2 vessels. In the past week, the Houthis have stated that they would renew attacks against Israel vessels in the Red Sea after Israel cut off the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza this past month. US overnight air strikes were one of the most extensive attacks against the Houthi rebels since the war in Gaza began in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to the air strikes, the Houthis\u2019 Political Bureau have made it clear that they will meet the US’s escalation with their own escalation. On Sunday, the rebels claimed that they had targeted the USS Harry S Truman Carrier Missiles and a drone. However. Two US officials told The Associated Press that it was a lie and that the rebels were not tracking anything. Marco Rubio has stated that over the past 18 months, the rebels have attacked the US Navy 174 times while also targeting commercial shipping 145 times using guided precision anti-ship weaponry.
