Kazakhstan has always focused on international cooperation which can be shown through there growing strong relationship with the EU. Since signing the EPCA, kazakhstan has worked closely with Europe in areas like innovation, infrastructure, governance, and culture. EU leaders had recently visited there and new agreements were found and signed, such as a £200 million loan to support development in kazakhstan. A key focus in this cooperation is the middle corridor, a trade trout that runs through Kazakhstan and connects China and Central Asia to Europe. This route is extremely important for faster and more secure trade. By the EU and kazakhstan supporting the middle corridor they both benefit a greater economy stability. But Kazakhstan’s importance to the EU goes beyond trade. The EU is currently trying to move toward cleaner energy and nuclear power is becoming more important. Kazakhstan has more than just uranium, they have all sorts of critical raw materials. But as global challenges grow, Kazakhstan believes that working with international partners is the best way to move forward.

I find this really interesting because the EU has been known to promote human rights, and Kazakhstan does not have a good human rights index score right now. In fact I am doing my final assessment on it. I knew they were very rich on raw materials which is why I feel like many countries wanna be friends with kazakhstan, especially since it supplies about 40% of the worlds uranium. I do think that the relationship between the EU and Kazakhstan will continue even after tensions become more loose. But I can see a strained relationship happening between the two countries.

I know the EU is really happy to have Kazakhstan as a partner, especially because of resources. But it makes me wonder if Kazakhstan is gonna change, i mean obviously it will change, but I mean more will it change to follow suit like more european countries. I also wonder what the people of kazakhstan think. Do they like this? Are they against it? It really makes me wonder cause they have a low human rights index score, so how will kazakhstan and European countries influence each other?

Again, this reminds me of when I was picking out a country for my final for IR. And all I can think about is how can both the EU and Kazakhstan get along together? I mean I know they are both benefiting due to the middle corridor, but my point stands. When we were talking about the human rights index scores felt almost eye opening to me, I also wonder if another country could break this growing bond between the two. But I also wonder if they are in a state of relationship where they are willing to do a “favor” or even change. Either way their relationship is growing.

SOURCE

SOURCE

As global supply chinas and trade routes are under pressure, this is changing how many country approach international partnership.
