In efforts to mediate the escalation between Islamabad and New Delhi after the deadly attack on tourists in Kashmir, Iran’s Prime Minister held talks with Pakistani officials. The UN had advised both of them to practice restraint towards each other, stating that they will support the one that practices peace and de-escalation. Islamabad has offered to cooperate with this, while India has not given a distinct answer; Tehran also offered to ease tensions between their neighbors. After releasing suspicion that India might attack, Pakistan’s military has been ready for any of the sorts. Again, the Pakistani foreign minister stated that they will show restraint unless India attacks them first. Both India and Pakistan seem to be blaming each other for attacks, including accusing the Indian air force of attempting to breach Pakistani airspace in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kashmir is split between the two; India and Pakistan, both claiming it. This has caused much conflict between them because of the fight over the land and diplomacy. The splits that come from these problems have been very jarring for both states, causing them to make decisions like to expel each other’s diplomats and suspend treaties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This article is really important because this might determine the fate of the conflicts between India and Pakistan that have been going on for a very long time. Other countries have begun to intervene in this conflict, so Iran talking with Pakistan shows how important this conflict is for not only the two countries, but many other surrounding ones as well. India and Pakistan’s relationship is very complex and deep-rooted, with many conflicts occurring over a long period of time. The most recent conflict in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir left tourists dead, and this was something that needs to be prevented, so that is why Iran wanted to step in and mediate the escalation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan has made it very clear that they are prepared to show restraint towards India right now, unless India decides to attack them in any way. Iran wants to keep it that way, along with the UN and many other states\/groups, who strongly advise them to stay neutralized with little to no conflict at this time. It is unclear how India is going to respond to this because the article doesn’t really dive deep into that, but I don’t think that they will step down on anything because of their deep history with Pakistan. This meeting between the two officials show a big effort to stabilize the region and strategize their diplomatic relationships, specifically because they reside near a shatterbelt region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
