The ceasefire, brokered by the US came after four days of intense military exchanges triggered by a military attack in indian-administrered Kashmir that killed 26 people. In his speech, Modi stated, “This is not an era of war, but this is also not an era of terror,” and warned that “a strong response will be given” if another terrorist attack occurs. He also declared, “Terror and trade talks cannot happen together,” Referencing Trump remarks about conditional trade relations. Additionally, Modi mentioned the suspension of a water treaty between the two countries asserting “water and blood cannot flow together” Both nations have reported casualties and damage from the recent conflict but have since agreed to measures aimed at de-escalating the situation through discussions and also reopening of 32 indian airports previously closed due to safety concerns.

I feel I have always heard about the conflicts between India and Pakistan, and I knew that they were in conflicts but with how recent ceasefires have been working recently I am not entirely very hopeful on this one as well. I don’t wanna sound doubtful and it sounds like both countries are willing to work towards a peaceful discussion. Especially if Trump gets involved I don’t see how this can end well seeing as I have found the man involved in basically everything at the moment.

I believe that this ceasefire is a sign of hope for many people and I do think both countries will try their best to settle their disputes because no country really wants to spend more money on fighting. And I am sure many don’t really want Trump getting involved with what is going on as well, and thought many will appreciate that the US brokered the ceasefire, claiming that you won’t trade with either countries until they get it together is not the best thing to do.

This reminds me of when we talked about why we support Ukraine rather than Russia due to not wanting Russia’s expansion to continue and having to join the fight due to being a part of NATO. It makes me realize more and more why the US gets more involved in international affairs, especially when we have problems going on in our own country. But as we work towards a multi-polar world, it makes me wonder how this will affect the relationship between India and Pakistan

SOURCE

India’s Prime minister Nerendra Modi addresses the nation following a recent ceasefire with Pakistan, emphasizing India’s readiness to respond decisively to any future terrorist attacks.
