During the event many prominent leaders from the academic, business, and political fields of both Bangladesh and China spoke very highly of the success of the BRI in Bangladesh noting that it sat well for future bilateral cooperation. The exhibition brought together 43 multinational corporations to showcase the fruitful outcomes of the BRI in Bangladesh. Patwary, Vice President of the Midland Bank, which serves as the “financial engine” of the BRI said he felt it will strengthen the relationship between Bangladesh and China. Mirana, a secretary of the Economic Relations Divisions of the Ministry of Finance for Bangladesh said that joining the BRI has greatly benefited the country in not only development goals but also economic, cultural and educational fields. Chinese ambassador Yao Wen spoke, saying China was open to continuing to work with the government of Bangladesh to improve the lives of citizens in both countries.

I think that this event is a great showcase of the positive relationship that has been had in the past years between Bangladesh and China. I think that this event, showing the many positive impacts the BRI has had on Bangladesh will probably lead to other countries in the region to try to join China’s BRI, especially some of the lesser developed countries in South and Central Asia. I think that this reflects the work China has been doing to help these countries become more developed through the BRI and I think they will soon be able to reap the benefits from Bangladesh.

In terms of stakeholders I think it is absolutely in the best interest of both Bangladesh and China to continue their partnership through the BRI because it has had such great impact in Bangladesh and while it has had some impact on China already I think the more developed Bangladesh becomes, the more China will benefit from their BRI relationship. I see no reason from either side to want to change anything and I think that the success of the exhibition is proof that nothing really needs to change in order for the BRI to continue being a success.

While I don’t find this to connect much to our current topic of peace and conflict, I think that the BRI is one of China’s greatest sources of soft power. When China builds these relationships with countries that are not yet developed enough that the US will work greatly with them, the countries sway greatly to supporting China as a result of the help they received in their development. In addition, this makes China look better in the international field which is also of great and important benefit to them especially because I would argue that currently China has more hard power than soft so by building this positive reputation soft power they are benefitting themselves greatly.

https://english.news.cn/asiapacific/20250915/fa6b6aaf3a9a40d093a84ad57a2c14db/c.html This article covered the recent Belt and Road Initiative exhibition that took place in Bangladesh on Sept. 12 and 13.
