The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran says that most of their uranium stockpile is trapped under rubble from attacks. Lawmakers are emphasizing that inspections remain guarded and controlled. While European powers are pushing Iran to restore their full inspections, they threatened to trigger snapback sanctions. In response, Iran warns that they may quit the Nuclear Non-Profit Treaty if they follow through with sanctions. Iran also uses this moment to criticize Israel for its strike on Qatar. In counter of Israel’s aggression, Tehran pushes Islamic and regional states to form a joint operations room.

Iran’s decision to only allow minimal inspections seems like an attempt to buy more time against E3 or lessen the pressure while still keeping sovereignty over its nuclear program. By restricting access to Bushehr and enabling political approval, Tehran is signaling that these international pressures only work to a certain point. The E3 sanctions risk losing trust in both Iran and the IAEA’s verification. Iran majorly broadens the picture with Israel’s Doha strike and nuclear diplomacy, inspections are not only a technical issue but now a big struggle against seen aggression.

Iran will most likely continue its strategy by offering partial cooperation because they will be able to avoid diplomatic isolation and still protect their nuclear program. Tehran will probably keep the tightness on inspections in the future because that comes with the risk of exposing them. Instead, they will continue selectively opening the sites like they have been doing with Bushehr and want a pause in the sanctions. The Europeans and others will probably use the threat of their snapback sanctions even though they know that if they do reimpose this that they would collapse diplomacy altogether. They will end up accepting the limited cooperation so they can keep contact with Iran or escalate this situation more and risk Iran dropping from the NPT.

link to the article: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/9/13/iran-considers-nuclear-inspection-access-urges-action-against-israel After Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Parliament that Tehran has agreed to resume cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, access is limited to the Bushehr nuclear power plant and you will need approval from ISNSC in order to enter any other sites.
