Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the midnight strike destroyed the house of a local resident, also injuring civilians in additional attacks in Kunar and Paktika. Pakistan’s military denied targeting civilians, rejecting the allegation as false. Mujahid warned that Afghanistan would respond “at the right time,” calling the attack a violation of sovereignty. The incident comes amid a fragile ceasefire between the two countries, already strained by border clashes and mutual accusations. The bombing followed a suicide attack on Pakistan’s paramilitary force headquarters in Peshawar, claimed by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a faction of the Pakistani Taliban (TTP). Pakistani officials said the attackers were Afghan nationals, and President Asif Zardari blamed militant groups allegedly operating from Afghan soil. Earlier this month, another suicide bombing in Islamabad killed at least 12 people; Pakistan said the cell involved was guided by TTP leadership inside Afghanistan. Relations have deteriorated sharply since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, with Pakistan insisting Kabul crack down on TTP militants. Afghanistan denies sheltering them and accuses Pakistan of violating its sovereignty and supporting hostile groups. The escalating violence has undermined attempts by mediators like Qatar and Turkey to maintain peace.

The tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan continue to rise, causing a very dangerous climate for the region. They are causing large-scale security threats along with harming innocent people. The conflict is increasingly dangerous because as they continue to do cross border strikes, it paves the way for terror groups such as the TTK and ISIS-K. Alongside that, Pakistan has been conducting large-scale expulsion of Afghans from Pakistan which only causes further resentment between the two countries, which makes future cooperation less likely. There are also other actors in the region that have strong connections with both or one of the two countries.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/11/25/taliban-says-pakistan-bombed-afghanistan-killing-nine-children-and-a-woman Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan surged after Afghan authorities accused Pakistan of bombing a home in Khost province, killing nine children and one woman.
