This deal was created to combat the current geopolitical conflicts that have created problems in trade and combat the United States increase on tariffs. New Zealand also wants to try and get rid of their soul reliance on China as a trade partner because of the outlook of China’s future.

This is a very nice topic to read and a good change in what I normally read. I view this as a good move that promotes interdependence and the working together of counties to solve two issues that don’t collide with each other.

I think that New Zealand will end up as the winner of this deal if they use this huge advantage because not only does duty-free relief some tariffs but it also exempts them from excise duties. New Zealand does not offer the best resources in terms of what India needs by any exemption of trades should prove to be somewhat beneficial for India in this hard time.

This topic relates, as I said, to interdependence as trade is the biggest overall factor that contributes to the worlds interdependence. This is also a better real world example of interdependence as it is two states reacting to different issues and finding a way to work together to fix the situation for both nations instead of causing possible conflicts with their issues.

Link: Link On April 27th 2026, India and New Zealand reached a free trade agreement that included eliminating tariffs on New Zealand exports to India by 95%, while also making Indian exports to New Zealand duty-free.
