Congress Pushes Foreign Aid Bill to Address Instability in Africa

A group in the US House lawmakers wants to push to reauthorize a foreign bill that helps the state of African countries and prevents failures from happening. The Global Fragility Act (GFA) was passed under the Trump administration to intervene before states have troubles so that they don’t fail. This was to stabilize countries that were at-risk and unify foreign affairs. To improve on this, they want to monitor these programs to see how the program is working and implemented. They want to focus on many countries, not just hyper focus on one. There have been many disappointments in why the US is going so slow with this policy and on what is going on. People are wondering if states like Niger, the Sahel, and Burkina Faso are going to get help or if they are past intervention, and that is something that the US needs to figure out. For this authorization, they want to put troops into friendly countries in West Africa to help them be stabilized and counter terrorism. A big goal of this is to make sure that African states, like Chad, Mali, and Togo, are safe in hopes that terrorism does not expand in Africa.

I think that Africa needs some extra help to prevent terrorism from spreading and destroying countries and states there. They are overtaking many countries and it seems like they can’t help themselves from it. The US would help them greatly, but then I have to wonder why that would benefit the US? It would give them stronger ties with Africa, proving our loyalty and partnership. I think it would be good to help Africa with their security, as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone more. This article is important because it shows that Africa needs help with security, and it has been an ongoing issue. It would overall help the health and well beings of many African states and, in response, will make our relationship stronger.

The United States is a big global actor and influence many different parts of the world. America is a global superpower and has the power to do many things around the world. They deal with many foreign affairs and, in this instance, are helping to benefit many states of Africa. They taking on the challenge of violence, war, and achieving peace in Africa.
