So this means that the final round of voting can take place. Liberia has had some problems in the past with its politicians seeing that they haven’t had a smooth transitions of powers in 73 years. President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf took office in 2006 after Charles Taylor was forced out by rebels in 2003. He is currently serving a 50 year sentence for war crimes against Sierra-Leone. With much of Africa falling behind in the rest of the world it is important to see that there are citizens in that country that drive out the corrupt politicians. With the world becoming more and more global Africa’s modernization is becoming a more pressing issue. It shows that in Africa there are people who want to be leading a more modern society and strive to uphold a certain quality of life. This starts by being able to root out the corrupt leaders in one’s society that are pressing the rest of the people down so that they live a higher life style. Another country that has also been going through these same issues is Kenya. Kenya is one of the more stable countries in Africa but there has been some social outcry due to the latest election where one candidate dropped out because he claimed it was all rigged anyway and so Kenyatta won. In the streets the police have been subjected to use tear gas on the civilians during their protests. So in Liberia it will be interesting to see how the public reacts to whoever is put in office. Whether it be George Weah or Joseph Boakai I hope they are able to peacefully accept it and keep striving to become a more modern society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Currently in Liberia the Supreme Court has ruled that the evidence of fraud during the first round of the election was insufficient.
