He denies these allegations, claiming that they are based on “information distortion” and “political sabotage.” His decision to resign came after lots of thought and his motives behind the decision were to preserve the character of the presidency from these claims of immorality. His resignation went into effect immediately upon announcement and was out of respect for his country and the citizens of it who may have been affected by the allegations against him. Before serving as Vice President, Mohadi had served his country both before and after their independence as a soldier, Member of Parliament, and a minister with many important responsibilities.

The article doesn’t directly describe what the allegations are against Vice President Kembo Mohadi, but I can imagine that based on his response to the public and with his resignation that it was in offense to the population of Zimbabwe. It is likely that his position as Vice President will need to be filled in these coming weeks, President Mnangagwa will need to appoint someone in place of Kembo Mohadi. Overall, I do not believe that Mohadi’s resignation will have a major effect on the country as a whole, but it will be interesting to see the reactions of Zimbabwe’s population to both his resignation and the reappointment of a Vice President.

In connection to class, the accusations against Kembo Mohadi that drove him out of office as the Vice President leave a hole in the structure of Zimbabwe’s government until his spot is filled. This hole leaves room for a change in influence that could be explained through the realist perspective of international relations. Through the power of ideas, Mohadi’s replacement as Vice President may be able to produce a change in capabilities within the government.

Link to article- https://allafrica.com/stories/202103020243.html The Vice President of Zimbabwe, Kembo Mohadi, has resigned from his position following allegations of immoral behavior.
