The total number of civilians and displaced persons fleeing from neighbouring countries that were put at risk was around 100,000. This blindsided the U.S. and found that both the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces failed to take necessary measures to prevent civilian casualties in residential communities. The United States called for an immediate ceasefire in and around El Fasher so they didn’t break international humanitarian law due to the attacks near civilian areas. This conflict is widespread and reports are coming out stating that there isn’t a resolution to this conflict that includes military so the focu needs to stay on protecting civilians, providing humanitarian assistance, and creating a resolution to this conflict.

This article is substantially important Because if one of these two warring countries keeps bombing civilian areas they could not only face repercussions from the United States but also the United Nations. This conflict happened because these two warring countries are fairly small and if you want to have a critical attack on the countries foundation the reality is you would have to bomb a building that’s near civilian neighborhoods. This event is not a good look for these two countries and the lives that are being lost are the people who fled neighbouring countries so that they could be safe . It creates uncertainty in both countries and the region as a whole because they don’t know where is safe or where its ok to fight or not so that they don’t have to face the wrath of the U.S.

This article is a great representation of what we have been talking about in class because it shows how the U.S is a top 2 world power and when it tells a smaller country to do something they do it. Now, The U.S has there alliances but they don’t want to be roped into a war all across the world because of humanitarian rights laws.

https://allafrica.com/stories/202311030308.html

Recently there has been large scale attacks by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on El Fasher, North Darfur that would target and put civilians lives at risk.
