After around 4 days of searching, it has still come to no avail. There is no certainty of the number of people who are trapped, but 25 families have places missing persons reports. A mix of military personnel and rescue workers from multiple mining companies are working to find these buried people but are doing so slowly to be more cautious. Mines Minister Paul Kabuswe is helping lead the search and agrees with the decision to go slow saying, “We must be mindful that we shouldn’t have an accident within another accident”. There is hope and it is believed the rescue team is getting closer as they are hearing voices.

In my opinion, I do not think a story like this is going to get a lot of attention from other countries and governments. This is because, under my own knowledge, this does not affect any country/power in the world. The only way it would happen is if country “X” exported goods and raw materials such as minerals. The lasting impact of this is that the search might take even longer with no help from bigger entities, thus increasing the odds the trapped miners do not survive. An impact that could happen closer to the country of Zambia is that they create safer mines and rules. This seems needed because at the current moment, there are plenty of artisanal miners who search without proper safety procedures/equipment.

The entrapment of miners in Zambian mines/caves best relates to NGOs. NGOs are non governmental organizations who work to achieve equality and help countries dealing with disasters. How this relates is that an NGO would come to Zambia to help this disaster and release the trapped miners by bringing equipment or help the search.

Link To Article: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/12/5/zambia-digs-for-miners-buried-in-open-pit-mudslide In sub saharan Africa, Zambia, miners were buried alive in an open pit copper mine, in three different places, which was caused by a mudslide.
