They desire to reform institutions to be less of a western significance and help more developing countries. Founded in 2009, they sought out to coordinate economic policies, diplomatic policies, found institutions and reduce the dependence of the US dollar and influence. Many western countries have pretty much dismissed the BRICS group and do not see them as a rival. Some of the countries have wished to expand, while others are more hesitant, which could cause disagreements, which are happening because of certain events. They are going to continue growing and are going to access other trading blocs and countries while Russian leadership is intensifying anti-west focuses.

The growing BRICS group seems to be a threat to western countries and the US and I think they should look into it. The are trying to make them less powerful, reform, and push out the US dollar, and replace it with a new one, which is a threat and includes many countries trying to do so. I find it a little weird that these specific countries are in this because these countries are powerful and haven’t always gotten along with each other. I think their priority is to change the ways that other organizations work to reduce and reform the power that the US has. I do not know how long this will work because each country is in it for its own benefit, and once they start acting selfishly, it will break down and affect relationships.

Russia will continue to try and expand this group and add more members, along with China. Other members might not like this idea and argue with this, causing division. The US has not really responded to the expansion of this group, even though it could really affect them and the US dollar. They might have to do something if they pose a big threat towards them, which they might not want to do. Other countries could benefit by this group by their financial institutions, but there are others who probably would not.

The BRICS is an economic and political group that is hoping to benefit themselves and others. At the global level, this alliance is trying to weaken the power of the US because they are a dominating power, unipoand have a lot of strength in economics. This displays acts of realism because these states want what is best for them when it is actually an alliance. Even though they are together, they do not know what could happen with the countries they are with and want the power for themselves.

The BRICS group is a political group between Brazil, India, China, South Africa, and five new members.
