While I understand that President Omar al-Bashir has an economic incentive to undergo \u201cArabisation\u201d, he is in a very tough situation because of the diversity and differing interests of his population.<\/span><!--more--><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alienating minority groups is not the path towards long term economic prosperity. \u00a0I wonder how long it will take for Sudan to stabilize. This is an interesting example of the power of social media in preserving and celebrating culture. I am encouraged by the fact that the millennials are taking a stand against their government. I wonder if the government will take any actions to appease the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Darfuri and Nuba ethnic groups. Both ethnic groups need to continue to pressure the government for their rights, hopefully peacefully. However, unless the government acts quickly, violence is likely to ensue. This is similar to our refugee simulation in that these minority groups may leave the country due to under representation. Also, like we were discussing in class, their low economic ceiling also contributes their embitterment and anger. Sudan\u2019s north\/south split is similar to Nigeria\u2019s as they each have a majority Muslim north and a majority Christian south.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I found it interesting and alarming that people are going to the extreme of bleaching their skin.
