ANALYSIS: Argentine president’s coalition sweeps midterm elections

Argentina’s current president Mauricio Macri strengthened his position in congress while also slowing down a comeback from former president Cristina Fernandez. Fernandez nearly bankrupted during her time as president and the new change in presidency has allowed the country to grow. The people of Argentina are tired of all the political corruption and from what can be seen Macri is not corrupt. Many investors in Argentina hope to see Macri lower business costs and allow the economy to grow again through its agriculture and shale oil sectors. With the current administration I could see Argentina to continue to grow, however Fernandez is quite popular with low income families due to her social spending and if she regains power Argentina may be taking a few steps back instead. I believe growing the economy should be a priority for Argentina so they can provide more jobs for the low income families. Many people Fernandez will not have a serious bid for election until 2019, so Macri has roughly 2 years to sway the opinions of the lower income families.
