Analysis on 4 Most Insecure Cities for Young Girls and Women

It is very disturbing to read an article like this for either gender, but especially while being a female. It is extremely sad that things like this even have to be posted. The fact that women need to be aware of the danger that awaits them anywhere in the world, but especially these cities is devastating. Women take on a different type of responsibility when starting from when they are born. There are things mainly women must worry about that most men never have to in their lifetime.

It’s upsetting to read that two of the most dangerous cities for women are in Latin America: Bogotá, Colombia and Lima, Peru. The article stated that not only do women have to worry about getting harassed or kidnapped, but it said that women often get harassed in public: whether it be physical or verbal. Reading that makes me sick to my stomach and even if you are not a woman, you know and love at least one and can somewhat relate to the sickness that comes with this thought.

My question is what is being down to prevent and shut this down. These governments of these cities need to raise tax dollars and hire more police and security precautions. Organizations need to encourage women to stand up and tell authorities when they are harassed. The article said that even when women are harassed they tend not to say anything, this is how people are continuously getting away with it. We need to stop solely relying on charity organizations to fix this problem and get more authorities involved. Let’s help the women in Latin American cities and cities all around the world to rid of the sickos on the street, and make women finally feel comfortable when simply performing daily tasks. Let us protect and empower our daughters, mothers, aunts, and friends feel safe and empowered.
