The article explores the contrasting influences of President Donald Trump and Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who has been elected as Pope Leo XIV, on American society and global affairs. Trump, known for his assertive political stance and policies, continues to shape national discourse, particularly on issues like immigration and national security. In contrast, Pope Leo XIV, a Chicago-born cardinal, represents a spiritual and moral authority, emphasizing compassion, unity, and the protection of human dignity. The juxtaposition of these two figures highlights the diverse ways in which Americans can exert influence—through political power and religious leadership. This will leave a lasting mark in history because not only is this the first time a pope is American but there is stark difference between Trump and Pope Leo XIV in the media. These people are very influential and it can go many different ways in the future. I think we will see backlash of both sides. Public opinion will change depending on regions and the reactions will be very different.
