The plot of the overthrow of Maduro had been drawn up by Venezuelan military members seeking encrypted radios to aid their effort of removing Maduro from office but after many meeting the United States refused to grant the request which caused anger within the group of conspirators.

My analysis and opinion towards this information of Maduro’s authoritarian leadership is that there needs to either be an intervention towards his leadership to help rebuild their democracy or the government needs to be overthrown and a new leader needs to be put into office. Considering all the information displayed in the article from Maduro presiding over the countries near collapse and the talk of food and medicine shortages, the United States needs to put more effort into aiding a rebuild of the Venezuelan government rather than putting the power into the military conspirators hands. The United States should keep their approach towards this issue as passive as they possibly can and refrain from using any military action or aid as best they can.

I also agree with the statement made by president of the Council of Foreign Relations, Richard N Haas, saying that he did not support a coup of Venezuelan president Madruo, but that he suggests a “Latin American coalition of the willing” is a better way to begin rather than attempting an overthrow. Bringing together the militaries and offices of surrounding countries and allies to attempt an intervention and aid a rebuild is a better tactic rather than the United States attempting this with the help of Venezuelan military leaders.

The signs that are beginning to be shown that the Trump administration is possibly hardening its stance toward Maduro and keeping him under sanctions set by the United States is a good first take at this situation until further information is obtained for further action to be taken.

On Saturday, The United States was accused of plotting coup against Venezuela’s President, Nicolás Maduro, by Venezuela and one of their allies.
