The people of Brazil, specifically the women, are rallying together to make sure one man doesn’t win the election.<\/p>\n
At first glance this article reminded me of the presidential election between Hillary and Trump. A lot of people didn’t like either of them, but they sure knew who they\u00a0didn’t\u00a0<\/em>want to vote for.<\/p>\n The women of Brazil have started a movement; creating hashtags, putting on marches and rallies, and all together making their presence and opinions known. The #NotHim also reminds me of other hashtags that women all over the world have started in recent years such as #MeToo and #BalanceTonPorc.<\/p>\n I admire these women and their courage for standing up for their beliefs. Especially in an area of the world where female oppression is so prevalent and against a candidate who is known for his sexist remarks against, and about, women.<\/p>\n This isn’t just an issue of sexism though. I wish more people in general in other countries, not just women, had the ability to speak out against their government without fear of retaliation. Governments should be run by the people, for the people.
