This conflict between the two branches has the possibility of interfering with reform going through the legislature that would limit government spending while accounting for inflation for the next 20 years, which is being done in order to shrink the defecit.

A government can only pass and enforce legislation if the public it is governing is confident in its abiliites to operate as one. Therefore it is my opinion that, due to the recent corruption scandals that seem to ensue one after another, this reform must be passed in order to help assure the citizens of Brazil that their government remains operational and functioning. If the government is unable to cooperate and find a way to pass this legislation, the public will lose even more confidence in Brazil’s government. If this becomes the case, it can be detrimental to the social structure and will do nothing but deteriorate their delicate economic situation. Furthermore, this failed attempt could then possibly be a sign of future economic policy blunders for the government. One of the other possible effects of this rift between the Legislative and Judicial Branches is Brazil could damage its reputation in world economic affairs if this reform isn’t successfully passed.

Thus, there are no positive outcomes that would come of this reform not being passed; it is essential that the government re-align its interests for the betterment of Brazil and work together.

Adding to the economic troubles and political corruption that has plagued Brazil recently, a rift between Brazil’s Senate and their courts threaten to unhinge the efforts being made to help ameliorate their troubling situations as a country. This past Wednesday the President of Brazil’s Senate asked the Supreme Court to temporarily halt an investigation involving Senators, breaching the separation of the Legislative and… Read more »

[3

post-202","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-analysis
["GET
