KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Economic Growth Council is committed to moving Jamaica from “developing to developed”.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness, council Chairman Michael Lee Chin and deputy chairman Nigel Clarke were on hand Monday at the Courtleigh Auditorium in Kingston for the launch and signing of the declaration for the Economic Growth Council.

Both Lee Chin and Holness signed the declaration.

But what exactly is the dream for Jamaica?

According to Lee Chin, the dream is to make Jamaica a place where merit is the only determinant of success.

Prime Minister Holness pointed out that the government’s role is to facilitate the growth that the country is trying to achieve.

“Economic growth comes from the private sector and the role of government is to facilitate that growth,” he said on Monday.

And the Economic Growth Council chairman, a successful businessman himself, admits that Jamaica is ripe for investment.

“Jamaica is a treasure trove of investment opportunities, and I know that,” Lee Chin said.

Lee Chin went ahead and issued a call to action to liberate Jamaica.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Holness pointed out that the world is paying attention to Jamaica and pledged that the country will be made the place of choice in the region and the centre of the Caribbean.
